Curtiss Candy was founded in 1916 by Otto Schnering, using his wife's more American-sounding maiden name. The company's first product entry, known as Kandy Kake, became the iconic Baby Ruth candy bar. Standard Brands acquired Curtiss in the mid 1960s, was merged with Nabisco in 1981 and acquired by Nestle in 1990. The manufacturing facility is located near Chicago.
