Twenty years earlier Deere & Mansur's Kansas City branch was the first region-specific Deere company distributor. It was a partnership between Charles Deere and Alvah Mansur. Two years before this advertisement appeared Charles, only 21 years old, had become the company president when his father died. Charles is credited with having transformed the company from a regional to a national manufacturer of farm equipment.
