Magnet pictures legendary jazz drummer, Shelly Manne (1920-1984). From a family of drummers, Manne's career began while still a teen. By the 1940s he was performing with Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Kenton and Woody Herman. In 50s he relocated permanently to California where he made important contributions to a variety of jazz styles and recorded with such luminaries as André Previn, Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Sarah Vaughan and Lena Horne. He also performed on soundtracks for such notable films as Brando's The Wild One, Otto Preminger's The Man With The Golden Arm and many Henry Mancini's films, including Breakfast at Tiffanys and The Pink Panther.
