Jules Gabriel Verne (1828-1905) was a French novelist best known for adventure novels that have influenced science fiction for over 150 years. Along with H. G. Wells he is considered one of the fathers of science fiction.
His works include Journey to the Center of the Earth, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under he Sea and Around the World in Eighty Days.
From Earth to the Moon was the 4th of 54 novels in Verne's Extraordinary Voyages series. It tells the story of an 1865 gun club in Baltimore is determined to build a cannon and shoot a group of people to the moon.
