Whether or not Homer was an individual, and whether he wrote either or both the Iliad and the Odyssey, from scratch or from legends, mankind has been shaped in part by the concept of a poet named Homer and his epic tales of heroes.

Pierre Puget (1620-1694) was a French barogue sculptor, painter, architect, engineer and ship decorator from Marseilles, who also worked in Genoa, Florence and Rome. Among his best known works was a statue of Milo of Crotona for the gardens at the palace of Versailles (now at the Louvre), Hercule Gaulois, St. Sebastian and Alexandre Sauli. His work is also found at City Hall in Toulon, France.
