This fridge magnet pictures a vintage postcard c.1881 featuring the steamship City of Rome for the Anchor Line of the U.S. Mail line.
City of Rome was launched for the Inman line in mid 1881. The 560-foot 8,144-ton ship was constructed of iron with 3 funnels and 4 masts. It could do 16 knots and accommodate 1,330 1st-3rd class passengers. It was scrapped in 1902. The funnels were painted black while the ship was in the Anchor Line service.
