Magnet pictures an 1880's postcard advertising the Yosemite Stage Turnpike Co. stage coach services, previously known as A. H. Washburn and Company. The route of the coach shown in the picture was via Madera. Operated by the Washburn brothers, the company's 700 horses ran stage coaches from/to Yosemite from Merced, Madera and Mariposa. The 16-foot wide road to Wawona, today's Hwy 41, was completed in 1875. At the time this card was produced, approximately Wawona inn was built in 1878 following a fire.) At his death Henry was described as " the greatest of all developers of Yosemite Valley."
